Perhaps the most humorous sequence came when Mikey got a hold of one of the pizza henchman for interrogation, prompting the insidious pie to explain what was really going on - that is, Antonio had attempted to use the mutagen as a pizza topping, transforming him into Pizza Face (voiced by the incomparable John DiMaggio). Having April and the Turtles - and even Master Splinter - succumb to the pizza's hypnosis was a fun, if slightly unoriginal way to isolate Mikey from everybody else (a plot similar to Season 1's "Parasitica"). ("Why are you doing this, pizza? I love you!") ("Whoa! How many times can you order the first one!?") The mystery then continued as the pizza came to life, attacking Mikey while screaming, "Eat me!" In fact, Mikey squared off with a number of gooey foes throughout the episode, resulting in even more funny one-liners from Mikey. ("It's so good, you'll want to obey its every command.") Of course, the entertainment value of "Pizza Face" was in how Mikey reacted to the dubious events that followed, starting with his interaction with the dazed pizza boy who explained that the first pizza was free. Appropriately enough, the episode began with Mikey cooking up his own homemade pizza (with a little help from Ice Cream Kitty), much to the annoyance of his bros, who decided to order in from the mysterious and slightly creepy Antonio's Pizza. Warning: Full spoilers from the episode to follow.Īs the first Michelangelo episode since November's "Mikey Gets Shellacne," this week's "Pizza Face" featured an amusing storyline for everyone's favorite orange-clad turtle.
